(A Modern) Alice in Wonderland

I've always been in love with Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland. I love the story, the characters, the ideas, and the clothes. Just the thought of finding an alternative universe is amazing! When I was little I would create my own little world. I just recently watched Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, I figured why not. It was alright, the storyline was okay, but the costumes, scenery and special effects were AMAZING! I really love Alice's clothes, I would definitely wear some of the stuff. If only I could mix Alice's look into my modern, everyday clothes... oh wait, I can! *Que a big, cheesy smile*

If you've ever thought of a modern Alice, you probably thought of a modernized blue dress. While you still can wear that, Alice's look can be made of a variety of colors, Alice's dress in the original story was yellow! Alice's look is mainly a whimsical, girly, almost romantic look. But remember, she's also a child. So it should be innocent and easy to play in! (I still 'play' in dresses. I was twirling in my driveway today in my sundress!)

Just so you know (and so I don't get sued,) I don't own any of these pictures. You can find these clothes at stores such as Forever21,Miss Selfridge and the like. I didn't put any of their pictures up, but I do recommend a store called Cotton On. They have a lot of thin, light summer dresses and light sweaters that would fall into Alice's category.

So in short; Alice's style consists of a lot of florals, ruffles, light material, and comfortable fashions. She grew up in Victorian times, so it's a little 'duh' that she would wear skirts and the like. But if you don't like wearing skirts, you could always pair up light wash denim shorts with a floral, ruffled top and some wedges.

Every little girl dreams of fighting evil...

You know how girls dream of being princesses? And the boys of pirates? I wanted to be a princess almost as much as I wanted to be a superhero. I can't walk around in a cape and tights; but I can wear these simple, yet cute, superhero accessories.

A simple Green Lantern ring that can be worn with a simple jeans & t-shirt combo, or even an LBD.

Superhero converse. Two wonderful things in one. They're definitely more fun than regular black Chucks.

They look like clown shoes; only more stylish. These green and orange Joker shoes are... unique. Pair them  with boyfriend jeans for a cool, relax3d look.

A twist to the classic comic book symbol. This faux- gold necklace will liven up any outfit. Wearing this with a girly outfit will certainly catch attention.

A quick look that shows even the high fashion world is interested in superheroes.

I'm So Sorry, There Are No Excuses For My Behavior (But I'm Giving You One Anyways)

I wanted to apologize for not updating. School gets out soon, so I've been super, crazy busy with studying for finals. But in about two weeks, I should be updating a lot more. I still have more finals, the eighth grade formal, end of year field trip, yearbook signing day, and "fun" day (which is never fun.)

I  also wanted to apologize for being lame. I read my last couple articles, and I realiezed they were WAY lame. I want to blog about fashion, not High School Musical! Please forgive me, please! *gets down on hands and knees and starts to sob while begging for forgiveness*  I will try to be less lame in the future, I was actually embarrased to read my last post.

I'm going to go off on a random thought now; don't you hate it when you write something, and it never sounds like something you'd say? That's what happened when I read my articles, I can't imagine myself speaking that way in reality. Am I two different people? Or am I just insane? Probably the last one.

Another random thought is; I found a really cool website! It's called www.figment.com  On figment you can write your own stories, which is wicked cool! I've already uploaded some of my older stuff, so check me ouit! My name on there is, Elizabeth D. I also suggest that you guys should upload some work on there. I want to be a writer when I'm older, so this website really gave me a chance to step out into the world of budding authors. People can comment, critic, and review your stories. They really help, and the comments are a total confidence boost.

Because it's High School Musical!

When you saw my title you might be thinking, 'WTF' but no, I won't be singing for you today. I am part of the crew for my school's production of High School Musical. I got to spend four nights a week listening to, " Let's go wildcats!" and my ultimate favorite, "We're all in this together!" (Not really my favorite.) Yesterday was opening night and I just got home from a performance. I am the main (meaning only) hair/make up/ costume person. I took care of costumes for  nearly everyone, including Ryan & Sharpay; I did every one's hair & make up, I learned how to use a curling iron; and I did stage make up for about half the cast, stage make up is so fun to put on.

My favorite part of the show was watching my friend XXX as Ryan dance to Bop to the Top, that boy sure can move (and rock a sequined hat, no joke!) Another one of my friends was Gabriella and the president of the local high school's ITS club came to talk to her, I'm so pysched for her! I would've auditioned for the show, but when I found out it was a musical I realized I didn't stand a chance. I can't sing... at all.

I will admit though: the HSM fashion is amazing, The girl who played Sharpay used to be in beauty pageants, so she has the BEST wardrobe I've ever seen. I want to steal her shoes, really I do.

\
Isn't Ryan just adorable? I don't see any sequins though...

Sharpay, mean as she is, has amazing clothes! She should give me her closet, no one will notice.

What are your thoughts on High School musical?
