Geek Chic

Geek Chic

Yes, I know, Geek chic is a look that's been used many times. But I can't help myself, I like the look too much. A lot of people don't like G.C. because they don't want to advertise themselves as nerds; my message to them: GET OVER IT. Not only is this a great trend, but 'nerds' are cool and some people are too stuck up to get over themselves. A lot of people think of nerds as; smart, glasses wearing, chess loving, awkward people. If that's what makes someone a nerd, then I am the biggest nerd ever. I'm awkward, in advanced classes, wear glasses, and I like chess (even though I suck.) I think G.C. is a super easy look that can be done several ways. The Polyvore set above is one I made showcasing the different ways you can wear G.C. You can wear converse, oxfords, any type of jeans (well maybe not distressed,) button ups, sweaters (I own a ton,) ties, suspenders, plaid shirts, graphic tees, and different kinds of glasses.

G.C. is a comfortable look too! I love wearing sweaters, loose jeans, and converse. It's like comfort food for your body. G.C. is made up of basic staple that are in pretty much every closet. Do you own button ups? How about jeans? I'm guessing that you own sneakers? Well if you said yes to any of those questions then you've already started on geek chic look!

The main staple to the perfect geek chic look is...NERD GLASSES! You don't have to have them, but they are the trademark.
The picture below shows an article from Teen Vogue's September 2010 issue. Helpful, no?

Look even the Biebs is rocking them! (But I am no Belieber.)

The G.C. look is also able to look girly. You just add some floral, bows, pink, whatever you want!

I hope you guys rock this look! (P.S. I probably won't be posting tomorrow because tomorrow, I turn 14. Yay!  *Giant balloons drop out of the sky and confetti starts spraying everywhere, everybody gets up to start headbanging* Yeah, that's what happened in my mind.) Well peace out geeks!

Royal Wedding & The Fashion (and the hats! Oh the hats!)

Okay, so who watched the royal wedding? I did! I've been tracking Prince William & Catharine (Kate) Middleton since before they announced their engagement. I'm would've taken the day off from school just to watch it, but I couldn't, the eighth grade waits for no one. I did get up early to watch the wedding, but not early enough, I only cought the end. *Cue fake sad face* Not only did Kate look gorgeous and Wills look adorable (I have a little crush on him,) but the ceremony was beautiful and historic as well. What I liked to focus on was the clothing everyone wore, and who all was there. Elton John, David Beckham, & Posh Spice were among the crowd.

The Queen and Prince Philip seen here riding in style. The Queen always looks presentable, though all her dresses look ultimately the same. But she sure can work the pastels! Plus she looks fabulously British in her hat. I love all the hats, I would've worn one to school if I could, (and if I owned one.) The Queen is also wearing her favorite color, yellow! It's mine too and we have the same name, we have so much in common!

And here's the royal couple! I think that they make a beautiful couple, they're both amazing. Kate also has a great sense of fashion (which I"ll talk about later.) Her dress is amazing, I would definately wear it, think she'll loan it to me in 15 years? Kate's dress was ivory colored and was designed by Britsh fashion designer, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. The lace for the bodice and skirt was hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework.
I couldn't find any pictures but the tiara Kate wore was given to Princess Elizabeth II by her mother on her 18th birthday. The Queen then gave it to Kate for her wedding day. Kate's earrings, (Did you see them? Gorgeous!) were made to match the tiara and given to Kate by her family. The design of acorns and oak leaves represents Kates love of the outdoors, like on the Middleton Coat of Arms
See Kate's amazing hat? I love her hat collection (and the rest of her clothes,) I would love to see her closet.

This is one of Kate's most photographed outfits, it's very well put together. Kate's outfits are a perfect balance between proper English and modern style. And look at her hat! (It doesn't hurt that she's so freaking pretty!)

Ah, of course, the engagement dress. This sold out online within hours of the announcement! Plus look at the ring, Diana (Bless her soul,  I love that women! Of course, I was barely alive in her time. I might do a piece on her later.) definately had an amazing ring. I can't think of anyone more deserving than Kate.

On a quick note: who else sees the resemblence between Princess Grace Kelly's dress and Kate's? Kate and Camilla Parker Bowles were overherd talking about how much they both amdired Grace's dress. Kate definately added some great twists to the vintage beauty.

It's A Sad Day When A Rabbit Loses His Ears

How many people ate Easter or even Passover candy (do you get candy on Passover?) I definately had plenty of chocolate. I always save the best for last... the Easter Bunny of course! I also take a page out of Sally Forth's book and eat the ears first. It's always a little sad to see my rabbit without his (or her) ears. The ears are what give them their greatness, you know... besides the fact that they're made entirely out of chocolate.

Has anyone seen the pictures of the dresses made entirely out of chocolate? I think those are amazing. I'd post the pictures up here but I don't have a lawyer, or a wish to go to jail for copyright, or whatever you can get busted for in these situations. Dont't you think it's a little silly that these huge companies like suing the 'little people'? Don't they have bigger fish to fry? I get that you shouldn't steal people's work but isn't it a compliment that people want to use their work? I would love it if someone used my photos or poems or whatever someone would want to use.

New Girl On The Block

As the title suggests, I am indeed the new girl on the (theoretical) block. I've tried to have blogs before, but they were just crap. I'm hoping this one is different, and by different I mean lasts more than a few weeks. This blog is about...well whatever I want. I think of it as an online journal, but don't worry, I won't pour my heart out to you.  I might give you one sentence that says 'I'm bored,' or I  might give you seven paragraphs about the zippers on jeans. Ya'll will just have to deal, or not read this blog. I'd prefer it if you dealed. But if you've seen my web address ( or the words at the top of this page) you'll have an inkling that there will be puns. There most definately will be puns. The whole blog isn't centered around puns, but I do love a good pun. I make puns all the time and my friends have to tell me to knock it off. I, of course, never do 'knock it off.' Well, good bye for now.   ~Lizzy~
